All,

A knock up is being run for Big Glen on Lindholme Strip lake on Thursday 20th March.

The lake has kindly been donated by Aaron and Alex for Glen for the day so there is no pegging fee.

The match will be run as a friendly knock up, there are no pools so you are free to wander and chat with Glen when ever you feel like it.  A bottle of "alcoholic liquid" to the winner and a pat on the back to everyone else.

Depending upon number fishing we can draw pegs around 08:30 so we can be set up and fishing. Knock up time is 10 to 4pm for those in the draw.

There are 24 pegs on Strip so plenty places available, 2 roadside pegs will be put to one side for Glen and Woolfy to sit alongside him and the rest can be sorted on the day depending upon numbers.

Glen will be arriving around 10:30 to 11 to join us fishing into the afternoon.

Pegs will be allocated on first come first serve basis,  there are only 24 pegs on Strip lake if all in. please bring trolleys in case you draw on Loco side as it looks like this will be in the draw with numbers already below

Big Glens knock up Lindholme Strip lake 20.3.2025

A great turn out of 13 anglers made up of Bashers and Work mates attended a hastily arranged knock up on Strip Lake at Lindholme to share the day with Glen who hasn't fished for a few weeks now. Following some frosts last night was cold but thank fully no ice on the car windscreen or grass. We also had the promise of wall to wall sunshine and temperatures raising to high teens, as we move to springtime.

With the whole of strip lake there was plenty of room for the pegging and draw made with assistance from Mr L8 it was off to set up and start fishing and also await Glens arrival.

Fish caught all around the lake from Mr Lanelly's shout and Smiler setting the pace. Match being run from  10 to 4pm, nets in but no prize money at stake, just a bottle of wine for the highest weight. This was to lead to a relaxing day, no pressure of weight changing and also freedom to walk around and chat to each other.

Peg 2 John Utting 47-2
Peg 4 Paul Atton 65-12
Peg 6 Leo Martin 63-13 including a 13-2 munter
Peg 7 Big Glen 29-8
Peg 8 Andy Woolfall 49-1
Peg 10 Gavin Cooper 68-2
Peg 12 Dave Fox DNW
Peg 13 Mr L8 69-15
Peg 15 Lewis Fox 40-10
Peg 17 Kane DNW,
Peg 19 Steve Guy DNW
Peg 21 John Lanelly 57-2
Peg 23 Michael Roche 92-11 Match win

Fish were caught on maggots as per last visit however hard pellet also worked in this match. Some also caught on corn and soft pellet. Fish caught on short pole, long pole, some caught jigging and close in on nearside shelf.  Well done Mike on the match win fishing short pole throughout the day on a dead maggot approach.

Glens weight whilst showing lower than others needs to be judged on only fishing approx. half of the match. He tried corn early on then switched to his favoured 8mm hard pellet on a top 2 +1. He was soon into larger size fish the palm size F1s being caught on maggot. He had also brought along his own Gillie ( Stefan)  to assist with landing these fish and also fetching and carrying what ever was required.

So, with everyone catching a few fish, tee shirts on in the sunshine what else could make this day any better?
Well, we had about a dozen guys visit Glen to say hello and share some memories as well as watch him catch a few fish. A few of these had even arranged their work diary so they were in and around the area  location so they could pop in and spend some time with our VIP. Well done guys.

Also with the relaxation of not fishing for "points or pennies" all anglers felt able to put top kits on roosts and wander around chatting to Glen and others around the lake. Banter increased, method sharing increased and it seems like the whole day was enjoyable for other reasons than fishing. Old school angling with mates, a little "Mortimer and Whitehouse Gone Fishing" type day.

The main reason was to try have Glen safely bankside on his box, in the fresh air, fish along side his mates and catch a few fish. Special thanks to Tina and Stefan for their assistance in making this possible and making not only Glens day but everyone able to share the time with him.

Also thanks to Aaron at Lindholme for letting us have Strip lake for the day. Also to Woolfy for all his behind the scenes assistance.

Well put Leo. A emotional day that I am sure we will all remember.

Nice to be able to share time with our "Big Glenn".

And to see the original Mr Big Bash, Kev Allen, without whom the club would not exist.

A bight day in more ways than one 😁
