Big Bash Wrinkly knock up 8 Lindholme Strip Lake 1.3.25

Lindholme roadside booked for knock up 8 and numbers reduced to 8 in order to give a little space and also to enable us to park behind our pegs. It also gave us a chance for a sneaky practise with our winter league match on here on the 8th March.

A full match of 8 Bashers entered, all paid on timely and draw assisted by the Wolfmeister this week and it was off to the Strip lake as the sun was rising in the Eastern side of the horizon. Pegging was on roadside only and there were no other anglers on the opposite bank. I believe the aerator / bubbler was left on during our match as well which may have had a detrimental effect on the earlier pegs.

Timekeeping by John Lanelly fresh from his cruising holidays and fishing 10 to 3:30 was the task ahead.

Easiest summary to make of the match was from the off fish were caught right up to the end shout by John. Some gaps during the day admittedly but overall it was a fishfest in March. Bites a plenty, not the summer record breaking weights but everyone caught fish in March and will sleep content like babies tonight. Roll on next weeks Big Bash winter league match to see how that goes with both sides of the lake in.

Peg 2 Paul Quinton 36 -6
Peg 3 Tracey Benson 70 -4
Peg 5 Mark Radford 72-5
Peg 6 Andy Woolfall 78-1      section win
Peg 8 John Lanelly 85-7         section win
Peg 9 Leo Martin 35-4
Peg 11 Michael Roche 70-5
Peg 12 John Utting 96-0            Match win

Everyone used poles for the majority of the match, long, 2 + 4, 2 + 3, 2 + 1. Some chucked rods out and also caught however for speed and accuracy pole came out top. A lot of the fish were small from 3 ounce to pastie size F1's. The Carp do not seem to be feeding yet although there were some broken hook lengths from the odd fish. Elastics and lines were light to match the fish stamp but we all know Strip lake does hold some large surprises which caught a few of us out.

The rivalry of the bashers does exist and despite knowing we have a match next week, to help everyone, the baits used to catch today were maggots, hard pellet and corn. All caught and accounted for fish.

Some guys managed to catch runs of a consistent larger stamp of fish and that is reflective in their weights, well done to those lads for their ability to source the larger fish.  Largest fish no greater than about 4lb I think. Alongside F1's, some silvers and a few welcome Tench, always a sign of springtime. It was primarily the F1's that were feeding which is a little hard to understand not just on this fishery lakes but others also as we know there are struggles for bites and activity.

Many thanks for woolfy assisting with pre match draw admin. Thanks to Timekeeper john for his accurate time keeping, I wont mention another prospective timekeeper who was quite adrift in the timing.
Huge thank you to Mark and his "team" for the weighing in task which compared to our other winter weights was a little more testing.

Next winter league is 8th March on strip.
Next Wrinkly knock ups are 15th March on Osprey (another prewinter league practise). Also 29th March and 5th April, venues tbc when I have an idea of numbers. Please be in touch as venues are getting booked up.
