Big Bash Wrinkly Knock up 18, Lindholme Laurels 20.8.25

Another eventful Big Bash Wrinkly knock up match. Arrival in the café to find that 2 lads had been involved in a multi car shunt leaving M18 to join M180. First things first, both Dave Fox and Mark Radford are both okay which is the most important factor. Daves car it extremely poorly but he managed to get it home. Hopefully he is not off the road too long. Take care gents.
Quick shuffle of pegs and paperwork and it was decided to drop out pegs 15 and 6 then the draw was made. There was a clamour for fancied peg 10 having recently taken a section last time it was in a knock up. Draw made and it was a rush to our pegs to try set up before the rain arrived.

The day started very overcast and at times dark however the rain held off. 12:15 and the first drops of rain appeared. Coats out and a couple of brolley's went up as the light showers developed however we were spared a real heavy downpour. The rain did ease at times however never went away and did get heavier at packing up time.

It must be said that Mr Guy, missing his partner in crime and also main carer Paul, did manage to put on his bib and brace back to front, but we will quickly gloss over it move on.
The threatened rain was due to arrive anytime and we were in for a wet one. Mr Whitehouse reported torrential rain in Wakefield on his way to Lindholme. First fish first chuck on his rod
Nets in and away we went with Paul Whitehouse on peg 4.

Unfortunately, due to being on the end peg my observations were limited so some details may be missing. I e
Peg 2 Michael Roche. With the Aerator in front in full flow we all expected Mussels to be Micks approach. Not so, Method and 8mm fisher pellet was his tactic for the day and he proceeded to fill his 3 keepnets to challenge the weighman. 141-10 for a match win and head and shoulders above everyone else. Some adjustments made early on before settling for the fishery pellets and the bites and fish kept coming. If anyone has some Ralgex please forward it to Paul who admitted to a sore neck from watching all day. Well done.

Peg 4 Paul Whitehouse. First fish caught to raise his hopes however it ended there and Paul had to work hard for 39-2 and watch the fish keep coming next door. Paul avoided the tight up approach to the island and its snags and chose to fish just short of it.

Unfancied peg 10 saw Steve choose rod and pole approach. At around 2pm he went in his margin and reaped the rewards with a steady flow of fish gracing his landing net. Fishing under the tree to his left he added 47-6 in his nets, carp, F1s, silvers and a very decent perch taking his offerings of worm and pellet hook baits. Well done and peg 10 delivers again.

Peg 12 Kev Indian Websters home and he chose a short pole and pellet as his first approach of the day. He did manage a couple of fish but they were not settling so moved onto his bomb and 6mm pellet to the open water in front. After a while the bites came but again not a rate Kev wanted so he swapped again to heavy feeding dead reds which produced for a short while but again the fish were not settling. Kev was to swap and change throughout the match and ended back up on his trusty bomb rod to finish with 57-15 and second in match.

Peg 13 Leo, I started with the long chuck to island opposite with method feeder whilst priming a bomb line. Bites very iffy and weak but I managed 3 fish in first 45 minutes before moving onto Bomb line.  One fish in 30 minutes, this did give a proper bite but couldn't win any more. With things being very slow for everyone I made a change to a paste line seeking the  good sized skimmers out. 2 skimmers netted from very iffy paste bites and then a proper carp. This was followed by small F1s and a couple small carp. I kept on this line and fed margin swims. 18 inch deep to a bankside hollow on my right and a yard deep to the tree on my left. Paste on left and mussels (yes again) to my right. 2 proper carp and some F1s were caught in the last 90 minutes also with several lost fish as well. Need a little more practise with this mussel game me thinks.
40-13 for the weigh bag.

Another wet match with kit to dry off again. Everyone caught a few fish and had bites. It was a match where everyone had to think and work for the fish as no one method was working..

Many thanks to everyone turning out. A group weigh in with everyone helping and the paperwork got a good drenching, doh.

Next Big Bash wrinkly knock up is on Bonsai on Wednesday24th , hopefully its drier for us.

Next Big Bash Summer league match is on Saturday 27th at Barnburgh. If not done, please pay on to help admin

Finally good luck with your cars Dave and Mark. Take care guys.
