if numbers don't increase, suggest pleasure fishing at either, Bank End, Torne Bank, Woodhouse Grange Oaktree or Strip at Lindholme

Big Bash Wrinkly knock up 14 Lindholme Strip Lake 30.4.2025

8 Big Bash Wrinklies fishing today on a Glorious sunny day with temperatures up to 25 degrees. Kindly given the whole of Strip Lake however didn't find this out till we were fishing and I requested the Aerator turned off. Unfortunately it couldn't be turned off due to heat and volume of fish in lake. Fish care priority so totally understandable. The bubbler has been changed for a paddle type so makes a bit of noise and disruption as well as there is a rope anchoring it to the banks. Note for  future if given the lake in summer to drop pegs 1 and 2 and move them to 12 and 14 where still a reduced walk.

Pegging  fee also now £11 so adjustments made to payouts accordingly, matches being run as a social event so minimum costs and also trying to share funds out as much as possible.

Set up and with john Lanelly as our official timekeeper we were on an early start. Peg 9 todays office, simple plan set up of pellet and maggot lines at 2 + 3 on bottom ( 3 feet). Margin line to my left at 2+2 between two sets of grasses in water edge at 9inch deep. And a shallow line if needed. I intended to try keep fish on bottom feeding at dead depth if at all possible 6 and 8mm pellets. Larger pellets to try  sift out the larger fish from the peckers. Some groundbait and soaked micros for margin along with decoloured and flavoured corn.
First bite was after 3rd put in on 6mm hard pellet and it was one of the many small 6 ounce F1s. Kept on this line for a long period alternating 6 and 8mm pellets and feeding likewise. The plan using larger pellets was to try invite the larger specimens to the swim however the peckers kept coming. I did manage one decent 6lber and lost another. When periods of slow bites came along I tried maggot but no joy, also red pellet and again no joy.
Fed my margin at 13:30 and within  5 minutes tails were waving a come and get me and I took the bait. I do find it hard to resist and probably cost me a few pounds in weight build. The stamp of fish were much better however ratio of missed bites to hooked fish was very high. My after thoughts and reflections were should I have stayed catching smaller fish more regular instead of going in the margin and loosing,  missing countless and wasting time. Margin baits single, double corn and also 8mm hard pellet. Tried maggot and no joy.
End of match and scales reflected 44-4 and thank for coming however the day was very enjoyable in great company once again.
Peg 12 John Lanelly fishing alongside the tree line mostly shallow Did go in his margin for a frustrating end of match and lost fish. Despite the creative language and hot air form another orifice, John weighed in 79-4 for a section win, well done John.
Peg 11 Nigel Cooke fished shallow most of the match from 11m to 2 + 3 as Nige tried to eliminate quite sections of the match. Nigel won the first fish prize and was landing a fish a put in but they turned out to be a smaller stamp fish. Nige also went to platform 10 as his margin and joined the missed and lost fish club. 76lb was his end of match reward.
Peg 9  Leo 44lb- 5
Peg 8 saw Steve Guy in residence who also chose the shallow method. Where Nige was loose feeding via hand or catty, Steve chose a potting in method dropping a kinder pot of ground bait to form a cloud then lowering his rig into the cloud. Steve also went in his margin but continued to catch a much smaller stamp of fish. 40 – 8 was his reward for the day.
Peg 6 saw John Utting in residence. John fished long, Short pole and also margins. 60-8 was his reward which was 10lb ish over his estimation.
Peg 5 saw Ryan Webster and he fished another tidy match to return 63-8 for a section in.
Peg 3 saw Mick McGlann with us again. Settled in his chai  r and using his bomb rod he confidently went about his task and returned 28-8.
Peg 2 saw the Woolfmeister set up camp. Andy returned a very commendable 83-9 on the scales. Following a quick teach em guide off the on one and only paste general Steve Gregory. Andy has been visiting Steve's new fishery and enjoying some great days. During the process Steve has spent a little time with him ( as he always does with anglers) and gave him a few tips on paste and expanders. Andys choice today was Paste in the margins and it paid off with a match winning net of fish form the margin to  his left. Well done mate.

Great assistance and team effort on the weigh in, John L and Ryan assisting, thank you. Thanks for Johns efficient timekeeping however I guess everyone would have stopped later if allowed. Special thanks to Steve for loan of his scales, I cant remember why we moved to  Jaspers scales from the club scales, if anyone can refresh me or Jasper please let us know ASAP. John Utting has kindly taken the weighing in equipment and club scales for the next Big Bash match as I don't think I will be available.

Special note and watch out, I think My Guy got mixed up with mine and Johns Lanelly cars as I got to  take his banana skin home which was duly found emptying my car. John as we know is the normal bin man for Steves refuse, maybe John is  on strike in sympathy with the Birmingham binmen?

Next Big Bash match is Saturday 10th May Grange park on the inform Heron Lake. Please confirm and pay on to help Admin.

Good luck to those on  Mr Fox Knock up on Grange Park at Merrys this coming Saturday.
