Title: 2020 summer league booking on thread
Post by: Leo Martin on August 21, 2019, 19:37:37
Guys,

As the year moves along and the dark nights slowly descend we have to think about the future and planning the 2020 summer league.

In 2019 we had 19 members join and we had managed to amend the pre seson bookings from 25 down to 20 pegs which was decided at the AGM and we saved a major amount of money. The decision driven by the unused peg debate from 2018 season and paying for pegs booked in advance.

No one owns a crystal ball and we are unable to predict what is around the corner so we have to best judge what may happen from the data we have at hand to help plan for the future

The facts of this year to date with 19 member are

Spring Vale - 15 members and 2 guests = total 17 = £21 out of funds
Sykehouse - 16 members and 3 guests = total 19 = £7 out of funds
Bonsai - 16 members and 1 guest = total 17 = £21 out of funds
Merry's - 12 members and 5 guests = total 17 = £21 out of funds
Willows - 14 members and 3 guests = total 17 = £21 out of funds
Swan - 12 members and 4 guests = total 16 = £28 out of funds
Beeches - 16 members and 2 guests = total 18 = £14 out of funds
Loco - 12 members = total 12 = £56 out of funds
Portland - 13 members and 2 guests = total 15 = £35 out of funds
Woldview - 15 members and 3 guests = total 18 = £14 out of funds
Willows - 15 members and 2 guests = total 17 = £21 out of funds
Hayton - 14 members and 3 guests = total 17 = £21 out of funds

We have to remember that on each match we are already 1 peg down due to only having 19 members and booking 20 pegs.

So far this year if we had to rely on the membership to pay for the pegs the attendance means we would have had to pay for 70 unused pegs which equates to £490. Thankfully allowing guests has recouped 30 of these pegs which is £210 off the total. So without the deals done,  haggling and adjusting payouts on match day the club funds would be short £280

To help plan for 2020 season we are now posting to take membership with a closing date of November 2019. Depending upon the uptake we may also propose to limit peg bookings to 15 and try increase from the fishery,If able to do so closer to match day.
Following AGM pegging fixed at 20 per match . please see rules and AGm for notes.

The numbers above we believe support this action.

Subscriptions due please  :)

Payment in cash to Jack on winterleague / knock ups or Paypal to Jasper please

So if you can please post below if you are joining the 2020 Big Bash summer league please post your name below:-

19 names now showing as wanting to be members in 2020, a great number considering there are 4 2019 members to decide.
We may have a decision to make at the AGM re number of pegs we request at matches considering the last time we were over 20 pegs and number of no shows.
Can those still to decide if joining in 2020 please come to a decision? Thank you

Membership now closed at 22 members which are dependant on Mike still residing on the Isle of Axeholme and my leg getting better which is a tight timetable.

Match bookngs to reflect numbers and will dscuss with Jasper as soon as possible to limit no shows and potential pegging payments.

By my reckoning we have 22 members, 4 of these new guys and we loose John Balmforth from the 2019 membership although he is more than welcome to join as a guest when places are available

Membership fees for 2019 members £10 with £10 pegging fee paid rolled over

John Balmforth owed £10 back from his 2019 membership payment

2020 new members the fee is £20, £10 for payments and £10 for pegging fee if required.

2020 end of season proposed summer league payments

22 members x £10 = £220

£20 biggest fish caught in summer league by a member
proposed payouts

first in league £70
second in league £60
third in league£40
forth in league£30

100% payout.

Good effort leo, but the big question now is do we ring around and increase the pegs numbers to 22 or stick with the original 20 and see who drops out.

I suppose people will always drop out but what happens if no one does?

Hiya Jasper,
Peg numbers was discussed at AGM taking into consideration how many spare pegs we have had in 2019 and also in timings of people booking onto matches.
Decision was to stay at 20 pegs with first come first served on forum booking on basis. If needed we could maybe request a couple extra pegs closer to the date everyone was aware late bookings were at risk of not getting a peg.
Most people have diaries and if other clubs involved a choice has to be made.
Forum booking essential on a timely manner to secure one of the 20 pegs.

Pegging numbers drew a long conversation and difficult decision which was reached democratically. Lots of reasons to consider but mostly being charged for unused which is understandable for businesses to make some money.
15 pegs would have been good for match payouts but not for members who want to fish but had no peg
22 members with pegs would ( using the data from 2019) mean a massive loss on match days and poor payouts.
it is believed 20 pegs and similar payouts as in 2019 was the way forward for a "good balence" and acceptable risk.
The risk being not everyone could fish if 22 put their names down. This has been accounted for by trying to eek out extra late notice pegs ( it is hoped most of our venues can accomodate these)  some may not be able to so first come first served by the booking on thread will come into play.

lakes with cut off numbers due to sizes may be
Osprey
Swanlands
Hoskers
Wetlands
Oak Tree
Torne Bank
Curlew

Democratic decision taken on the AGM.

we move forward  :drummer:

Hi John,

Thanks for the heads up.
Richard can apply as a guest when he is available mate as per usual. I would say he will get to join us at sometime .
There will be a tenner to pay back as his 2019 pegging fee unless he wants to leave it in the safe hands of Jack until he rejoins us?

thanks again

Leo
