Cheers leo
Pleased someone asked where it is,do we need narrows, depths, what's in it
Steve,
This lake is right down your street. Fishing mainly for carp ave depth is around 5ft. no barrows needed as park behind pegs. I will get list of rules out as the method was banned at one point
Our Club has fished this lake a few times now but when we had fewer members. Match reports should be in archives.
It is donut shaped, drive and park behind your pegs with a banking to walk down to you pegs as cars are on raised earth taken out to form the lake.
Pegs are gravel based on terra firma not out over water.
oh and there are a couple of dissabled pegs as well :) :) :)
The lake will be full with our club but fish should be caught.
Reeds, sedges and some lillys line the fishing bank side,
There are trees between most pegs.
Some margins have banks eroded back to some boards and these may also have straw bundles string along them for improving wwater quality.
The island is well beyond pole length and is cast to with feeders or bombs and was one of main methods when I last fished several years ago. Also a waggler cast across could work.
Depths can be 2/3 feet in margins, 5 -6 feet in middle with some pegs in one of the back coners maybe has 8-9 feet in depth and were good winter pegs.
There was one aerator maybe there is two now?
nets used to have to be dipped and dried, there were rules about hook lengths and also types of feeder. Also strict no meat rules. fiishery pellets only for feeding.
the owner has changed hands about 18 months ago and not met the new guy.
Fish were carp and silvers with some of the original fish about 5 years ago up to low doubles so they will now weigh a lot more. average was between 3 to 6 lbs then as well. the silvers were a nuisanace years ago but a lot have been taken out.
Rules off web site, may need sensor checking via telephone
Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by an Adult.
Dogs are allowed providing they are controlled on a lead.
No keepnets for pleasure fishing.
All nets must be dipped on site before commencing fishing.
No fish to be handled in rags.
Please take all litter and excess bait home.
All loose fed pellets to be purchased on site.
Banned baits - All meat baits, boilies, hempseed, bloodworm and joker.
Barbless hooks only. Max size 12.
Feeder and leger rigs must be free running and have a minimun 12" tail.
Fixed method feeders or bolt rigs not allowed.
Max.Pole length 14.5 metres. No floating poles, tapping or splashing.
No surface fishing. Min. 12" hook length when float fishing.
Additional Rules for Match Fishing
Anglers should bring and use their own keepnets.
Two keepnets required. Weight limit 55lbs per net.
Small fish under 1lb in one net and larger fish in the other net.
Additional nets are available on site if required.
If spare pegs are available the angler can fish the water up to the next peg but not beyond it.
There was no cafe but I understand planning permission has been applied for along wiht a toilet block. it does cater for caravans and tents there.
When driving through Graizelound from Haxey watch for the signage on the right hand side opposite the lane entrance just past last houses.
There was a canal type lake dug out for silvers a few years back and a lot of silver stock removed from the donut lake to stock it as well as stock bought in. Its now throwing up some cracking weights of silvers.
