Peg 16 for me not one of the favoured pegs but with room for all it could be ok,leo on point peg 40 in our bay,7 geese arrived and splashing about in front of us at the start they must have heard leo the duck whisperer was here.started on feeder to the road side, took a while to get one but an f1 graced the net, caught in spells throuhout the match lost a couple in the reeds had 1 on pole to the corner and 1 in the edge and got done in the edge on a carp which took me in the corner, finished with 23 f1s and s 4lb carp thought about 40 to 45 but ended up 57lb im rubbish at guessing wieght.Steve Jackson had a lump of a mirror carp well done to all.

Round 6 Aquastim Big Bash winter League Lindholme Lakes Willows 10.1.24

With the changeable weather continuing, Saturday the 10th was looking like a dry day, no wind and reasonable temperature for the time of year.

AquaStim Jaspers Friday evening wheel of fortune delivered its usual efficient choices and in the two horse spin for  Messingham Islands match NOB ( not one bite) club members Tracey won and I came second. Well done mate. For the draw for this weeks match point peg 40 was dutifully delivered as my office for the day which I believed was the right end of the lake time would tell when we could see what room I had.

Rouund 6 saw the Bashers return to the clubs spiritual home, Lindholme Lakes and Willows was the lake with the full pond allotted to our 13 anglers. The morning saw a temperature of 5 degrees and a thick blanket of fog laid down in the Acholme valley, the Isle of Axholme  and Lindholme was 2 degrees however the fog was lifting,  Peg 40 was my Office and for company on the arm I had Paul Whitehouse and Tracey again. Opposite me to my left and sharing the bay I was to fish to was Steve Curtis, on point opposite was Chef Indian and to his left Jacko.

My set up was pole line 2+ 2 at 1 oclock maggot line and 11 oclock pellet line, Margin lines to the trees each side, one maggots and one corn, method and bomb rods. Evrything set up realy early today somehowand blue clear skys overhead.

Whistle blown by Glen and out with bomb and bread to see what was happening, all quiet. Method out and still quiet. Pole line double maggot, float slides under and a lazy 2lb F1 graced the net which was quickly followed by small roach. rotated all lines as  you do throughout the match as nothing was settling down and the F1's proving very elusive. Method with 3mm Wowser proved to be the most effective chucking 10m into bay. I had one run of 2 F1's and got excited but they went as fast as they came. Ended up with 6 F1's and numerous small roach for  13-15 and another bottle of wine. Cheers Fiona.
Match winner and our Golden Reel qualifier Steve Curtis with 57-11 from peg 16 opposite me. Steve had a slow start but was soon bringing  fish in one his trusty feeder rod from the reeds to his left and under the tree to the side of the peg 18. He had some quiet spells so swapped to pole lines but his trusty method rod did the damage to record another match win, well done Steve.

Indians cigars replaced the fog however the smell is much much better. Kev had success from chucking to the aerator, hit a quiet spell and found fish on his pole line then back on the rods. He recorded 31-6 for a sneaky second in section off point peg 22 just pipping Jasper. To his left was Jacko on peg 23 who won the middle section with 41-14. Steve employed rods and pole lines and again kept rotating lines to try locate fish. He did  manage to supplement his weight with a 21-8 zoo creature and new personal best. Also loosing another big fish which wold have took him closer to Steves weight. Well done Steve.

Section 1 winnner was Joe Martin who has risen from his  hibernnatiion, happy new year fella. Sat on peg 2 he cashed in 46-4 to pick up where he left off in the summer league. Second in secion 1 was Richard  Cooke on peg 5 with 27-3.

Seciion 3 gave Tracey Benson on peg 38 the setion win  with 47-5. Zero to Hero in such a short time. Some fish on rods then he plundered his margins on pellet. Second in section was Paul Whitehouse on peg 42 with 42-10. Mostly on bomb and corn to the reed line to his left.

Everyone caught today which is more tha happened on Islands in prvious round so tick that box.

Thank you to Jasper for admin, trusty weighman Steve and Glen tooting his whistle.

Next match we are on the road again with a trip down to Springvale for Oak Lake which has been fishing well. Please pay on to help admin and if there are any  riders wanting to join us, please shout up well in advance again to help admin prepare aas well as trying to accommodate extra anglers.

At Lindholme we generally are treat to various aircraft dsplays however today we had synchronised swimming from a group of Canadian geese. Although still in February they are pairing up and getting frisky, is warm weather on the horizon or is this just they are either confused with the climate or exceptionally randy? They do make some noise when they start honking to each other
